BLUE LIZARD CANARY CLUB 2ND ANNUAL SHOW REPORT. By David Allen


2017 saw a new venue for it second Open Show at Begbroke Village Hall. This venue was well received by everyone with good faciaties and good light for judging.

It was a cold Sunday morning when we arrived at the hall but we were soon up and running with the clubs newly constructed staging being put up in double quick time. {would have been even quicker if someone [me] hadn’t forgot some screws] But this was soon over come and birds were soon being booked in.

The entries was 48 which is around the same as last year, this year sales classes were added for any canary which was well supported.

Judge for the show was Brian Hogg of High Wycombe. Members had tea, coffee and bacon rolls during the morning well the bird were being judged. Lunch was roast Pork and desert was Rice pudding this was enjoyed by all and was held in a side room away from the birds.

Class winners were as follows:

Class 1 Clear cap blue cock---~Stan Bolton

Class 2 Clear Cap blue hen -----Geoff White

Class 3 Broken Cap blue Cock----Stan Bolton

Class 4 Broken cap blue hen---Gary Mann

Class 5 Non cap Blue Cock-----Brian Sneddon

Class 6 non cap blue Hen ------Gary Mann

Class 7 Over-year Blue cock-----Geoff White

Class 8 Over-year Blue hen ------Stan Bolton

For best in show Brian picked out Gary Mann’s Broken Cap Blue hen, this bird also won the national earlier in the year. This hen had good spangles and some also on the cap.This bird also won best broken cap award.

2nd best in show went to Stan Bolton with his Broken cap Blue Cock . Best Novice went to 1st time exhibitor Brian Sneeddon with his broken cap Blue hen he also took second best with is non cap Blue Cock best clear Cap went to Geoff White with a clear cap blue hen and the final special for best over-year blue went to Stan Bolton with a blue Hen.
